I was at my house with a guy I haven't seen since elementary school. He had gotten 3 letters in the mail from different graduate schools he applied to. They were small, yellow and slightly transparent. He asked me to read them to him because he was too nervous. At one point he changed his mind and asked to hold them. I told him he would be able to see through the envelope and read what it said.
At the time I was convinced by what I saw through the envelops that he was accepted to at least one of the schools. He re-changed his mind and I opened the letters. The first letter was a flat out rejection. The second said 'maybe' and the third, from Georgetown his top choice, said maybe and cited administrative errors for not saying yes. I told him he should contact them to straighten things out.
